Take a look at the left side all the little black hairs/ nodules on the back of the petals. It's amazing what you see through a macro lens. The next photo really shows these little hairs/nodules with the little black heads.

This funny shaped butte was near Canyonland National Park (see map) on the road to Monument Valley.

It is very big (the black hole at the base is of human size)...

The original photo was slightly cropped to improve the composition and the contrast has been increased.

A polirizing filter on the lens was used to darken the sky.

this appeared, this morning, the 16th, on a side street in tallahassee, florida, usa, next to rt 90, the main east/west road from Miami to L. A. for many many travelers.
Here is a Genuine street prophet's poster, and if you click on the "original size" section, in the options under "all sizes" one can actually read this poster.
if you want to, some of the words are cuss words, on the size, here, they are not visible.

there is a much more readible version here!

But something tells me that this person did indeed have these dreams. whether these dreams merely reflect a homeless person's anger toward society, or maybe a real Vision series that infers that
our culture will soon become Toast, very very soon: you make the call, I report what I see that is interesting, on the streets.
Yes this spot is where many homeless people gather to beg for change and bills. the Shelters are four blocks away.

In a sense, the homeless, NOW, are living a bit like of this future seen, the woods around here are full of Camps of homeless and often there are fights and killings, events that escape the seeing eye of the police. many of them *want* to see Babylon burn down, and too, many of the hands that reach out to help them, merely have strings attached, or even Ropes attached!
1...take thoughbenzidrine every day, yes you will walk around in a daze and also gain 40 lbs, but You Are Being Helped!
2...report to job training and placement every day even as it is located ten miles out of town, and if you do not come every day for most of the day, you will fail; of course there is no time to apply for work!
3...necktie and suit and live indoors and give up ye Indian ways.
Become White man Now.
[would you like to be kidnapped and flown to afgan to be converted against your will to fundamentalism? would you Go Down Screaming?!]

many of them would like to see this poster vision[s] to come true.
have Us all live like they do now!

Dedicated to Manish Singh. We did a 3-hour voice conversation to help me fix my tone-mapping problem.

Taken at Gare de Rennes or the Rennes Railway Station. It's one of my favorite spots. It's a happening place in Rennes. I have a photo set which is about photos taken near theGare. The set is availble here.

This one is a single-image HDR. I had a tripod when I made this one. Post processing in photoshop.

Enjoy seeing it Large On Black screen

If you have 2 minutes spare , do have a look at some other Night Shots that I made

When at ease, take out some time to take a Slide Tour of HDRs that I made. It will be worth your time and efforts.

This melting "block" of ice on that branch made me think (a little bit) to the monster head in the Alien movie.

And this monster was on a plant of my garden after a night of snow ;-)

The shapes and the light captured in melting ice may be very surprising and nice to photograph.

Melting Down

Just realized that landscapes look great with 18 mm (even with 10 mm for those with big budgets) but only a 300mm lens can capture the sun "football size" melting down in the sea.

This one captured on west coast of India (Ganpatipule, Maharahstra)... the white patch at the bottom is clean-white-wet sand reflecting sunlight)

This was a virgin private beach attached to the "Tranquility" resort where i was put up for 3 days...

Butterflyweed seed pod, opened
photo sizes
A butterflyweed (Asclepias tuberosa) seed pod, opened, or opening. The brown seeds, and the white fibers that, if all goes well, will open out and serve to catch enough wind to distribute them, are clearly visible. They are more visible at the larger sizes. This plant belongs to the milkweed family. I'm not sure if it's the same genus.

This photo, although it doesn't show the seeds, shows the fiber parachutes unfurled.

Trying the "Second-Draft"

A few nice photo sizes images I found:

Trying the "Second-Draft"
photo sizes
I have been trying "the second-draft", originally proposed by Josh (see his second-drafting) ; compile several indexcards to higher knowledge.

I used B6 size indexcard because 5x8 card is not available in Japan. I feel comfort with portrait, not landscape. Then the width is almost same as 3x5 card.

The post-its means separation of pile I made before. You see it on picture "Task Force". After the second-draft, the post-its are removed. Because information on the cards are compiled on the 5x8 card, and now safe to return to the Dock.

While going to Sequoia National Park during our holidays in the West of the USA, we went along this lake (see map) that looks well preserved without constructions along it (appart our road...)

The light of the end of day was also giving a special luminosity to the landscape taken with a wide angle lens.

The photo was croped and the luminosity / contrast / saturation adjusted. I used a polirizing filter to darken the sky.

This tiny bloom as a photograph may not be appreciated unless seen in the large or original size view. The macro shot captured tiny details I could not see. This three petal bloom of the "Wandering Jew" plant is about 3/8" across. The remainder of another bloom's growth is seen to the left of this fresh bloom. Another view of this plant is in my stream here, in a much more typical view. From January, this link shows the dark plant mixed with oxalis, near my front door. With the heat continuing months' of no relief, the plant is much lighter in color and strains to catch moisture.

Leaving Zion National Park for Bryce Canyon along the Utah 9th road, you see these majestuous colored cliffs on the horizon (see map).

That day, they were under dark clouds and some rain.
But then a lull let the light comes on them, delivering this fascinating landscape.

Lighting, contrast and saturation have been adapted.

OrigamiPod : Let's start!
photo sizes
Origami (折り紙) means a folding paper in Japanese. And a pod is an 5x3 index card holder that plays a keyrole in the PoIC system. Let's make it by ourselves :)

Print the template on 3 sheets of A4 size paper. A paper should not be too thin or too thick. Find appropriate paper that bears open-close action of the accordion.

# I found a paper I use here was still thin. Choose thicker paper like this when you try. ;)

News! : The OrigamiPod is Introduced on www.lifehack.org/articles/productivity/paper-accordion-or... :))

I love my neighbor, as he never weeds the garden on his retaining wall. This of course gives me great daisy photo ops laying on the ground, and a chance for his dog to walk all over me while taking the shots.

become a person of value.

This is the bridge of Fragnée in Liège (Belgium, see map), lighted in blue during a dark evening of December 2008.

A lot of bridges of Liège are lighted currently in various and changing light.
I liked the reflection of the lights on the water and the symmetry of the bridge structure taken with a wide angle from below.

This gallery is along the gardens of the "Palais Royal" in Paris (see map).

The sun was low in that winter day and making a nice pattern of light on the ground with its red carpet and on the wall, through the arcades.

This place has seen a lot of famous persons going through during the previous centuries.

Palm Fanfare, Green
photo sizes
A quick shot of a very large palm frond in shade at my home in Phoenix during the Golden Hour in the late afternoon when all colors become vivid and rich. I was likely about 4 feet away from this palm growing beneath the trunks of 3 tall trees by my large out-building. The light primarily is coming from the West as backlight through the plant.

The focus on an 85mm L F/1.2 lens is tricky for the shallow DoF at such a close range. There is a way to set this particular lens to a micro-adjustment for focus on a Canon 5D Mark II but I did not take the time to work this out since I was a rented lens for a short time. The interesting areas of sharp focus here result from the standard focus of the lens and is "uneven" but interesting in a large or largest size view.

My wife has numerous African Violets around the house all sitting in various places where they either get morning sun or afternoon sun and they are all starting to bloom.
A wonderful Flickr Friend posted a beautiful African Violet yesterday and I had told her there would be one posted on my stream today so here it is Lynn. Now, seeming I am unable to get out these days the African Violets are going to be my subject for the next few days. Those who don't like African Violets please turn your heads now !
