Galleries with over 1,000 views as of April 14, 2012

You can see clearer pictures of these thumbnails by clicking on the "L" key.

Galleries are a way to spotlight the work of other Flickr members. I like the work of a lot of artists, and have, so far, curated 90 galleries, including one for each letter of the alphabet, twelve Fantasy galleries, and several on biological subjects. One of these has received over 4,000 views, and another over 3,000. I am grateful, and thank the artists/photographers, and the viewers.

If anyone is interested, here are links to these seventeen galleries:
Exclamation point symbols; Ornate letter Y; Ornate letter D; Ornate letter F; Ornate letter S; Fantasy 5; Compound Eyes; Arthropod eggs and pupae; Irises; Wasps; Isopoda, Oniscidae, sow bugs, wood lice, roly polies, pill bugs, etc.; Moss sporophytes; Fantasy 2; Fantasy; Aphids; Cladonia cristatella; Endangered species, 2.

Most or all of these galleries have links to other galleries of mine, and, of course, all of them can be used as a way to see each of the original pictures. It's a privilege to be a Flickr member.

Crushed Series: 5 of 10

For this shoot I was to do normal run of the mill head shots. When Megan and I met at the Ottawa Art Gallery to talk about what kind of look she was going for I was immediately struck by her very intense personality. Turns out she was auditioning for an avant guard music show in New York. She needed something that would help her stand out while at the same time show her personality. I suggested we walk around the Gallery. When she found herself taken in by a piece of art, we would stop and shoot right then and there. So when Meg would walk up to a piece of art that captured her her attention, it also allowed me to capture her personality at that very moment in time.

Walking Through ART

No big photo manipulation here, this is a man walking through the exhibition in the gallery for the exhibition of Bernardo Rudolfsky at the Getty Center. Best view is large if you are a fan of lithography. If I were able to be back with a printmaking studio this photo would be my working image.

See the texture in the medium gray and dark areas? That is caused by the surface of the glass. I was sitting outside on the plaza and shooting photos through the glass inside this gallery.

Lightning Rainbow Blues

Image by Striking Photography by Bo Insogna
Lightning bolts in the shape of a rainbow creating a dome over the city lights. Fact: Most lightning strikes average 2 to 3 miles long and carry a current of 10000 Amps at 100 million Volts. Lightning can?and often does?strike in the same place twice. Tall buildings and monuments are frequently hit by lightning. Gallery: www.BoInsogna.com

Sweet, Sweet Galaxy by Pip & Pop

Smiths Row, The Market Cross, Cornhill, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP33 1BT
Tel: +44 (0) 1284 762081

We are happy to welcome Australian artists Tanya Schultz, Nicole Andrijevic and John Kassab to Smiths Row in what is their first major British show. Schultz and Andrijevic have worked in collaboration since 2007 using the alias Pip & Pop and this is their second collaboration with sound artist Kassab.

Sweet sweet galaxy is a unique installation depicting an infinite psychedelic landscape. An amalgamation of numerous materials including coloured sugar, fine sand, cake decorations, origami, found objects, LED lights and sound, this colourful sensory kingdom will be constructed directly in the gallery space in early January.

The soundscape, created in collaboration with Melbourne-based John Kassab, adds another layer of immersion to the audience experience and sense of being transported to a faraway or imagined place. Whilst the soundscape adds to the narrative of the imagined landscape, interpreting the sounds with sugar has been central to Pip & Pop's process when working with John.

The sugar used in this exhibition has been kindly donated by Silverspoon. As the sole producers of homegrown British sugar the company supports 1200 East Anglian beet farmers. According to Dan Gough of Silverspoon: "the sugar used in this exhibition was grown an average of 30 miles away from the gallery".
