Brilliant Pink Awareness for BCA - by mimitalks, married w/children

Image by mimitalks, married, under grace
This is the final frame from my latest Video Art Production for Breast Cancer Awareness. Caution: You are about to enter the "Think Pink" zone for the entire month of October...
The Video Art Production is here: www.flickr.com/photos/mimitalks/8042995509/in/photostream
------------------------
Remember - no detection is best, and early detection can make all the difference.
Please, if this image does nothing else, let it be a reminder to get your Breast Cancer Awareness screening. If that doesn't apply directly to you, remind the women you love to do so.
Thanks for "listening"...

Mimi, daughter of a Breast Cancer survivor and self-appointed promoter of Breast Cancer Awareness to anyone who checks in to my stream.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
P.S. 11 people participated in the 2012 Digital Breast Cancer Awareness Quilt this year - a lot of people are saying it is our best one yet! Take a look -

James Moore, G-5 mentor, and black-belt Marine Corps Martial Arts Program instructor, at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan, July 18, 2010. Marines from the 215th Corps Partner Team participated in the LZ Drill to test their ability to properly perform combative techniques during extreme conditions. Passing this drill allows the Marines to advance to the next belt level in martial arts.

Late Arizona Sunset - Mosaic

This is a mosaic of a digital photo I took of an Arizona sunset during a storm.

The individual tiles that make up the mosaic contain fractal images, stills of music visualizations I wrote, classics of modern art, and other psychedelic images.

Arizona Sunset 3 is from a darker photo than 1 and 2, so I chose the mosaic to be loose and abstract.

Luce Center

At the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington DC. This is a nice museum, the 3rd floor has a pretty awesome modern exhibit.

HDR of 3 handheld shots at ISO 2,500, blended and tonemapped in Photomatix Details Enhancer, post processed in Photoshop. Shot with my Fisheye lens and then let Photoshop auto correct the distortion. It did a pretty good job. The photo gives the impression that the building curves out, but that is just the effect of the fisheye lens. I think it looks cool because you can see the exhibits.

Smoke - Mattys pure imagination

Smoke - Mattys pure imagination

This is my third attempt at smoke art. With this image my goal was to illustrate a photo realistic portrait of Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) using only colored smoke photographs. All of the smoke photos were manipulated and colored in photoshop cs5. The final psd was approximately 600mb and contained 225 layers. The project took approximately 80 hours to complete.

Smoke Art - Whirlywind

A few nice photo art images I found:

Smoke Art - Whirlywind

Photographing smoke art is one of the most rewarding aspects of home photography. We've all seen the wispy strands that float and glide through the air, but it's not until these trails are frozen in time do we see the true beauty and elegance of their construction.

In many images it's possible to see a subject within the smoke.

The advantage of smoke art photography is that - compared to water droplets - the patterns take longer to form so it's easier to judge when to take the shot. It's when the scene is viewed on the screen that the true diversity and uniqueness of the patterns is realised.

This was processed in Photoshop to highlight the patterns that exist within the formations.

What makes the universe so hard to comprehend is that there's nothing to compare it with.

(Such careless perfection naturally accentuated complex and omnipotent shadow vs. light-play, repeating soft and familiar melodies.
Her happiest consideration was these familiar and harmonious vibrations that every cell within her could recite by heart).

*** this was initially a photograph created by Francesca Woodman, a brilliant, eccentric photographer that took her own life at the age of 22. Perhaps i find her work so compelling because of the inredible amount of emotion, creativity, and even prophetic quality to her art, mostly self portraiture in black and white; very slow shutter speeds to create her fascinating trademark style of hauntingly, even disconcertingly dark and mysterious photos. I initially began editing a photo from google just for my own entertainment, but this casual past time began to grow into an entire collection of unique and personal pieces. I'm just glad I kept following this "rabbit hole," so that I could actually publish them... :)
