If you don't know how, it's time you watched this movie.

Coming to theaters October 30, 2009.

Before the Game before players, pimps, and pickup artists, where was the art of seduction truly born?

How To Seduce Difficult Woman is about bringing American men back full circle to the roots of seduction, forged tirelessly throughout the centuries in France.

Throughout the film, we get to witness a motley crew of clueless hopefuls get spoon fed the wit and wisdom that it takes to seduce difficult women, led by their womanizing French teacher, Philippe. Through Philippes seduction course and How-to-Manual, he drops the skills to help this eclectic group of guys to find out how to capture the woman or rather mate of their dreams.

However throughout this school, we get to see if the master womanizer himself has the ability to keep his game tight or if he is the one that really needs schooling. Along the way we also get a taste of real-life NYC street interviews on romance, sex and seduction to see how it all stacks up in real life.

Starring: Louis-Do de Lencquesaing, Stephanie Szostak, Jackie Hoffman, Adam LeFevre, Gregg Bello, Brian Avers

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. (AP) -- A Florida woman is dead after authorities say she was accidentally run over by her husband.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office says 58-year-old Nola Collier was killed Saturday evening.

Investigators say Collier and her husband were arguing at their home in Middleburg, about 30 miles south of Jacksonville.

Brook Collier reportedly got into his car to leave, but Nola Collier tried to stop him.

Public affairs officer Mary Justino says it appears Nola Collier approached the driver's side door and was run over. She was transported to Orange Park Medical Center where she died.

The crash is believed to have been an accident but Brook Collier has been charged with leaving the scene.

The fact that he was leaving in his car shows that he was trying to avoid further confrontation. I'm sorry someone lost their life in this instance, but a lot can be said for just walking or driving away from an argument. If more people would do it, domestic violence wouldn't be such a problem in today's society.

As a former victim of domestic abuse, I MOSTLY agree with you. However... the abuser usually has broken the victim down to the point where s/he believes their abuser is the best "partner" they will ever find and the victim is desperate to hold on. I don't know if this was an abusive relationship, and, I certainly don't want to cast doubt on someone innocent and now dealing with tragedy by trying to just get out of the way, but, there is another possible side of the story.
Even still - if, ultimately, she was trying to chase him down, even if he meant to, ... like "Totally" said.. it would be almost impossible to prove, either way.

It does seem unlikely that it was an accident, with them being in an argument and all, but, in his defense, it is possible. I was in a similar situation (REALLY similar) 20 years ago, and, had it not been for the grace of God, I could have been killed. I was the one pursuing, and, was also in the wrong. My ex would NEVER believe I just admitted to that.

Artist Greg Gossel and White Walls gallery invited us by to take a preview of his new show Sleepwalking which runs from June 10th - July 3rd, 2010. We are delighted to say that this some of Gossel's best work to date.

Combining a multitude of images, vintage tabloids, and magazines, Gossel creates works that are visual candy for the eyes, and hold deeper context upon closer inspection. With strong elements of Pop Art, the artist is reinventing the genre and making it accessible to a whole new generation of art lovers.

Took this simple photo at an apple orchard, and then proceeded to make 18 different versions of it while trying to maintain the simplicity. An exhilarating rollercoaster ride through the animated pictures of Sarah's world, as she gets revenge on the man who broke her heart!

Written, Directed & Edited by Robin King
Starring Denise Hoey, David Crow, Ruth Larkin

This pixilation (stop-motion animation using real people) was made in 2006 for Screen South as part of the UK Film Council's Digital Shorts scheme. As much as possible, it was made 'in camera' without digital superimposure, using thousands of printed materials.

In answer to some of the questions below and others I've been frequently asked:

The whole film took about a year: roughly three months each for development, prep, shoot and post - although due to the nature of the film, part of the post bled into the shoot.

The programs I used were Photoshop, Premiere 6.5 and some bespoke programs I coded myself (a 3D animatic planning program and another to smooth out some of the tracking shots). To be honest my machine and the software weren't up to what I needed from them, and I would have a much better time of it now, with my macbookpro, FCP and a tablet...

I used a Canon Eos 350D Digital SLR to shoot, and took roughly 26,000 photos overall.

This is a frame from a video. You can watch it on Vimeo.

image website
One of my Jupiter images was used in the BBC's Astrophotography How-To guide which can be downloaded from the Stargazing Live website at www.bbc.co.uk/tv/features/stargazing/star-guides.shtml

Here's another more recent example showing what can achieved using a relatively small telescope. From left to right:

1) Single unprocessed frame (one of nearly 700 that were taken). Two cloud belts, the Great Red Spot and the Galilean moon Io (barely) are visible, but not much else.
2) Stacked image in RegiStax, no additional processing. The noise has been averaged out and the image is ready for sharpening.
3) Same image after wavelet sharpening.
4) Final image after contrast enhancement and colour-balancing in Photoshop (using Levels, Curves, and Channel Mixer layer adjustments). Io has been brightened relative to Jupiter to make it stand out a bit more.

Equipment used: Canon 40D DSLR, Vixen SP-102 achromatic refractor, and a Tele Vue 2.5x Powermate.

RegiStax can be downloaded free from www.astronomie.be/registax/

We're not Christians but we are watchers of the TV show Bibleman. Jef Scott, who also does much of the music on some of the shows, is a darn (!) funny guy as the Wacky Protester, modeled after Jerry Lewis's Wacky Professor. In this particular episode, he plays an even more wacked out version of the character as Primordis Drool. This 3-part episode "Jesus Our Savior" has also been the center of blogosphere contraversy concerning anti-semitism on Bibleman.

20 Nov 2009 Photo of Morro Bay Harbor more-or-less from the perspective of a 1942 photo (ref. set www.flickr.com/photos/mikebaird/sets/72157622715084937/ ) showing original dredging operations before the Embarcadero was built up. Charlene Odekirk, Rosemary Olszewski asked me to take a photo of present-day 2009 Morro Bay dredging operations from the same perspective as the 1942 dredging photo she showed to me. It was suggested (by Rouvaishyana?) that the two images might be hung together in the Morro Bay Museum of Natural History for visitor interest. I have included a couple of candidate photos, as the current dredging setup barely shows in the image taken from the same point as the machinery is located further out at the Rock and is tiny in the image. www.flickr.com/photos/mikebaird/2303222094 is one location I recommend for the "2009" version. This one taken 3/1/09 does not have the dredging equipment visible of course but really shows the new harbor. I here posted other present-day image candidates at the set at www.flickr.com/photos/mikebaird/sets/72157622715084937/ (I have also included some iPhone shots of the 1942 image just for perspective - they are NOT of reproduction quality). You can download the full-resolution versions of the photos in this set (you may need to login, and select "all sizes") and print it, or click "order prints" and it can be fulfilled online. I turned my printer off over two year ago and now outsource all my limited printing needs to mpix.com or the like. I wanted to suggest that to really demonstrate the changes over time, that the new image(s) not be a print, but simply a photo, or better, a video, displayed in one of those inexpensive LCD digital picture frames that PJ used to promote my Click-Click product in 2008. Anyway, I can't resist pushing people's technical buttons. I have repeatedly suggested that museum displays that are visual only and not consist of palpable or 3-dimensional objects, be rendered via HD programmable LCD displays (a suggestion for the museum improvements committee?). Imagine, exhibits that never fade and can be incrementally improved at no cost! You might also ask "Morro Rock, Morro Bay, CA. The Formal Gardens is just down the gravel path from the Vanderbilt Mansion, the centerpiece of the Vanderbilt National Historic Site in Hyde Park. The gardens were designed in the tradition of the Italian garden, which is characterized by terraces, fountains, pools and statues.

The statue at the edge of the reflecting pool, Barefoot Kate, or Katie can be seen dipping her toe into the water. Placed in the garden in the early 1920's, she and her reflection are one of the most photographed scenes in the garden. The black color of the water in the pool is achieved through a chemical, non-toxic dye, which gives the pool its reflective qualities and keeps down algae.

The first gardens on the estate were laid out in the early 1800's by Belgian landscape architect Andre Parmentier, when the land was owned by Dr. David Hosack. Walter Langdon, who owned the land after Hosack, continued to maintain them. Frederic W. Vanderbilt bought the propetty in 1895 and the estate was home for the Vanderbilts during the spring and fall seasons. Mr. Vanderbilt enlisted a series of landscape architects, most notably James L. Greenleaf, to radically revised and enlarged the gardens in 1902-3. Mr. Vanderbilt held a horticultural degree from Yale University and took a deep interest in the gardens. He and his garden staff were renowned at the Dutchess County Fair for their exhibits of flowers and vegetables.

The gardens thus represent several periods of development. They consist of three levels or tiers dedicated to specific types of plants. The top level, the greenhouse gardens, is the "annual" level. Most of the over 600 plants here do not survive winter and are replanted each spring. It consists of three separate parterre gardens within a rectangle framed on the west by the rose and palm houses and on the north by the toolhouse, carnation house, and gardener's cottage. The next level, the cherry walk and pool gardens, are located east and contain "perennials", which survive winter but bloom for just a few weeks a year, resulting in constantly changing colors. The lower level, the rose garden, still further east, has two terraces with rose panel beds. The rose garden was added by Frederick Vanderbilt, himself. It regularly contains over 1800 rose bushes. Many of them are considered "vintage" roses, which are old varieties which might have appeared in the original garden at the turn of the 20th century. There is a combination of tea roses, climbers and bush variety roses. Their best flowering is normally between mid-June and mid-July depending on the weather. All the beds are laid out in a formal, "Italian" style, referring to the symmetrical layout of the beds.

When Frederick W. Vanderbilt died in 1938, the Hyde Park estate, including the Vanderbilt Mansion was bequeathed to Mrs. James Van Alen, a niece of Mrs. Vanderbilt. Two years later, Mrs. Van Alen gave the estate to the Federal Government, and on December 18, 1940, it was designated a National Historic Site. The country soon went to war and there were no funds to maintain the gardens. Weeds and brush took over the garden beds and vines choked the arbors and crumbling walls. In 1974 the National Park Service began to restore the brick walls. A government grant in 1981 allowed the park service to complete the restoration of the walls and structures.

In 1984 the Frederick W. Vanderbilt Garden Association volunteer, not-for-profit organization, was founded for the purposing of restoring and maintaining the gardens.

Rock art of Alta
photo sites
The rock carvings at Alta are part of an archaeological site near the town of Alta in the county of Finnmark in northern Norway.
The earliest carvings in the area date to around 4200 BC.
The site is on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
The wide variety of imagery shows a culture of hunter-gatherers that was able to control herds of reindeer, was adept at boat building and fishing and practiced shamanistic rituals involving bear worship and other venerated animals.
[Info from Wikipedia abrigded]

Photos slightly sharpened and converted to B&W with a selective color bias for a better representation of the art, some cropped, otherwise unprocessed.

I do not own this art, it's part of our common heritage as humans.

Chief Vann House
image sites
When I first saw this classic mansion it was a huge disappointment to me. That's because I was about 8 years old, and I was told we were going to see the home of an Indian Chief. I expected a tipi - not an elegant brick mansion with white columns.

I was at the Vann House most recently on the first week-end in March, 2005, and now in my 60's, I find the place utterly fascinating. It shatters the stereotypical image of American Indian life, and to visit it is both an eye opening and a moving experience.

Called the "Showplace of the Cherokee Nation," the Vann House is perhaps the best-preserved Cherokee plantation home. It was built by James Vann, the son of a Scottish trader and a Cherokee woman. Vann became an influential Cherokee and gained great wealth by placing various businesses along the Federal Road which forked through the Cherokee Nation in the early 1800s. Brick for the house was made of clay found on Vann's plantaion; lumber was cut from his own forest and sawed at his mills; nails were hand made from his blacksmith shops. The labor was provided by his more than 100 black slaves. At the time Vann moved into the mansion with his 2 wives and 9 children, March 24, 1805, he was one of the wealthiest men in America.

James Vann, who lived a rather violent life, was murdered in 1809, and his son, Joseph inherited the house. Joseph, called "Rich Joe," proved to be an even better businessman than his father. He became a leading and respected voice in the Cherokee Legislature.

Despite his wealth and influence, Vann was forced to leave his home and move to "Indian Territory" in present-day Oklahoma in 1832, during the inmamous "Trail of Tears," one of the darkest hours in American history.
