The Library of Congress website offers a multitude of historical images, many with no known restrictions on use. This image is derived from the J. Gurney & Son stereoview Minnie Conway, head-and-shoulders portrait, wearing hat, facing left. After the death of her father (d1874) and mother (d1875) twenty-one-year-old actress Marianne (Minnie) Conway took over management of the Brooklyn Theater in order to support her sixteen-year-old sister Lillian. Both actresses can be seen here in a later photo. The NY times stirred the ashes of her first marriage to coronet player Jules Levy, seeking scandal, on 6/28/1883. This marriage produced a daughter and a son, Frederick Levy who became a star of early Hollywood as Coway Tearle. She later married Conrad Tearle and had two sons who also worked on stage and film: GodfreyTearle, and Malcolm Tearle.
