The Boston Public Library offers a multitude of historical images in its flickr stream for use with attribution. The original 1872 Charles Taber & Co. stereograph from the series "Boston Fire, Nov. 9th and 10th, 1872" is titled Summer Street, looking west. This is not the Cha-Cha Method, rather each lens of the stereo camera was used for a different exposure.

The Library of Congress website offers a multitude of historical images, many with no known restrictions on use. This image is derived from the American Colony stereograph (circa 1900-1920) titled The Samaritan Passover on Mt. Gerizim. High priest leading in prayer. Many of the images in the Matson collection are from Palestine and nearby countries.

The purpose here is not to duplicate the original image, from Okinawa Soba's stream, but to generate an animated gif to assist viewing. Unfortunately, animation is not automatic - to animate you must view the image at original resolution (click all sizes) or simply scroll down.

Okinawa Soba posted several CC licensed stereoimages documenting life in early 20th century Japan (the Meiji period). The original Keystone image (circa 1904), presented for parallel viewing and showing an apprentice watching the master bead maker is one of many remarkable stereo compositions. This animated gif version exploits motion parallax to give a stereo illusion without eyestrain, to see what the photographer envisioned.

Animated gif generated with StereoPhotoMaker, a freeware program by Masuji Suto & David Sykes. Notes on Gif generation: the left image was scaled up to 100.5%, then the sizes of both were reduced to 600dpi wide. Because both images were scaled down, differences are not apparent from the first rescaling.
