Taken at the "Hong Kong's Popular Entertainment" exhibition @ the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Shatin.

The "Life" size photo of childrens (of 60s') sharing books at the street corner. The placement of the old chairs infront of the b&w photo gave us a feeling of mixed with the oldies.

Episode 2:

Seville Bicycle Lanes

In the last six years or so Seville has been busy building an extensive bicycle lane network, garnering major international attention. With 120+ kms of green paved paths they took the portion of trips made on bikes from less than half a percent to a whopping seven percent in five years - that's 14x more cyclists!!!!

What most impressed me, however, was the creativity of the routing. These green lanes jump from roadside to sidewalk and everywhere in between, are buffered from traffic by these curbstones, bollards, and even a handrail in some places but they keep going and obviously are working. Seville's immense medieval downtown is a boon - the distances are too far to go on foot, but the roads too narrow for cars to travel. Bikes are a perfect solution.

People are quick to acclaim bike sharing, but let's not forget that just because a bike is available doesn't always make it a friendly way to get around.
