Freya attacking the cat tree
Some images capturing a power struggle and worked up cats playing on the cat tree.
Freya, our black cat, is the sister to Loki. She has discovered this week that if she bum's rushes Danya that Danya will more often then not break and run. This has given Freya an edge on becoming top cat again. There are places where Freya can't get up the speed required and those places (the top of the bed for example) Danya still rules.

I bought a new cover for my phone today.
The addition of a gratuitous cat in the background of the shot backfired on me - my camera insisted on focussing on the cat rather than the phone *shrugs*

MORE STORIES OF WWII: USN and RAN cruisers of Task Force 44, with two 1942 dating scenarios below - Goodwin Collection, MV.
6346. An inaccurate Australian War memorial record for this image appears to have fed into the Museum Victoria record for the Goodwin Collection, identifying the ships here as USN and RAN cruisers of TF44 at the Battle of the Coral Sea, May 4-8, 1942. It is patently wrong, as the ships here are the Pensacola Class cruiser USS SALT LAKE CITY nearest to the camera, Northampton Class USS CHICAGO, next, HMAS CANBERRA [I] and HMAS AUSTRALIA [II] in unknown order as three and four, with screening destroyers ahead.
As we've now stated elsewhere, HMAS CANBERRRA was not at the Battle of the Coral Sea, but in Sydney completing a refit at that time , and USS SALT LAKE CITY did not arrive in the area from Pearl Harbour in time to be in companby with these ships. As per Kim Dunstan's [sailorsam4]'s comments below, this probvably shows part of the USN-RAN cruiser force en route to the US Marines invasion of Guadalcanal in early August 1942, and possibly leaving Fiji on July 31 for thgose battles. We are also now guessing that this is the same group of cruisers shown at anchor area two images back, and probably was probably taken at Fiji before they put to to sea again.
EDIT: a third, and credible scenario now arrives from Bruce Constable in comments below. We're reproducing it here for the record, but presently can't face re-writing the entries again. A confession: we simply never knew such large battle groups operated sometimes from Brisbane.
Bruce's information: "The war diary for HMAS CANBERRA ( Online at the AWM) shows that on 3rd June 1942 she left Brisbane for exercises in Moreton Bay with HMASs AUSTRALIA and HOBART and USSs CHICAGO, SALT LAKE CITY, HENLEY,HELM, BAGLEY MUGFORD, and PERKINS (Task Force 44 ) and returned next day.
On 23 June all the cruisers along with USSs HENLEY, BAGLEY, JARVIS, and PATTERSON left Brisbane for a sweep into the Coral Sea and then headed for Noumea arriving 28 June.
{Hence the miscaption by the AWM of the Coral Sea Battle?)
Unfortunately no later War Diary for CANBERRA online at the moment. I would guess that the photos are around one of these dates, possibly taken from HOBART which is not in the photos. CANBERRA is still in her Dapple disruptive camo which must have been painted over soon after as she appears in her blue overall color leaving Wellington on 22 July 1942.
Thanks Bruce.
Photo: Collection of David Ralph Goodwin, RAN 1938-1943, Museum Victoria, image MM 112312. The photo ius also held in the Australian War Memorial, image ID P02497.005, donor M. Williams, but with a caption that should be ignored. No photographer is named, and the image is listed as copyright expired, public domain.

More pictures from the old scrapbook I found at Goodwill: Blanche Sweet
These are more pictures from the scrapbook I found at Goodwill a couple of months ago.
When I opened it up, I was amazed -- it is full of hundreds of clippings of movie and stage stars from about 1916.
Someone compiled a scrapbook from issues of Photoplay and other magazines. Many times she cut out the photographs precisely, and glued the images into the book. But most of the images are just loose, tucked between the pages.
The condition of the clippings is amazing. The paper is not brittle or yellowed. Wherever this book has been for the last 90 years, it was kept safe.
I am gradually photographing most of the items from the book. There are many, many more pictures, though.
This photo may also be seen here: www.things-and-other-stuff.com/movies/ephemera/1916-st-lo... Notice that the copy I have is a beautiful deep sepia-toned print while the ones pictured on that web page aren't.

Hampton Court Palace is a former royal palace in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, south west London, England. The palace is located 11.7 miles (18.8 km) south west of Charing Cross and upstream of Central London on the River Thames. It is open to the public as a major tourist attraction. The palace's Home Park is the site of the annual Hampton Court Palace Festival and Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. Along with St. James's Palace, it is one of only two surviving palaces out of the many built by Henry VIII.
Flickr Hack #1
thomashawk.com/2007/01/top-10-hacks-on-flickr.html
1. The number one hack for Flickr would have to be Flickrleech. Flickrleech is a site developed by Andrew Houser (who is also a kick ass photographer), or simply Houser as he is often called, with the tagline, "because paging sucks."
When Houser released Flickrleech originally it would allow you to pull up any Flickr user's photos as a full page of thumbnails with no pagination. Although very cool, loading up 7,000 thumbnails wasn't exactly the nicest things to do to Flickr's servers and Houser actually changed his site to load 500 thumbnails at a time and today it sits at 200 thumbnails at a time.
Still, having the ability to browse a flickr user's photos at 200 thumbnails at a time is remarkable and allows you more photos on a single page than anything Flickr offers up themselves.
I'm constantly using Flickrleech to check out a new photographer's photos or to rapid fire go through someone's stream.
If you like these Flickr hacks feel free to digg them here.

Although posting photos, most from some time ago, I’m virtually inactive on Flickr with some sporadic moments of energy. Any views (and comments) are most appreciated. Thank you.
On display at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond is a painting by Junius Brutus Stearns (1810-1885), American painter, one of 5 major artworks by Stearns about Washington (4 are in the museum’s collection). This one is entitled Washington as a Farmer at Mount Vernon (1851), oil on canvas, measuring 14.5 x 22.625 in (36.83 x 57.47 cm). The scene shows Washington in conversation with his overseer, Mount Vernon in the background; slaves are working the field and in the lower left are two adopted grandchildren at play. One of Stearns; paintings was on a 1937 US postage stamp, depicting Washington in his role as statesman. 5 paintings are on line at www.the-athenaeum.org/art/list.php?m=a&s=du&aid=1037

Sky 360 re-lives the old world glamour of travel as each segment celebrates the excitement of jet-setting and far away destinations along with an eco-green theme.
The whole venue at The Centre will be transformed into an exhilarating airport scene with staff in ’60s and ’70s-inspired airline uniforms designed by Jolie Chan of Jolie Couture.
Terminal 1 – Trans Canada - an exclusively Canadian roster of designers, musicians and artists.
Terminal 2 – Mile High - a provocative selection of lingerie and bathing suits.
Terminal 3 – Eco Green - featuring designers who are taking eco-couture to the next level.
Terminal 4 – Elite Star - first class finale of high profile designers.
International designers include Betsey Johnson, Wolford and Calvin Klein, while national stars join their ranks such as TV’s 'Making it Big' winner Jason Matlo, Bikini-designer extraordinaire, Anna Kosturova, Canada’s Project Runway designer judge Shawn Hewson's 'Bustle', winner Evan Biddell, and runner-up Carlie Wong. Further locally-based stars include Nicole Bridger, Elroy Apparel, Evan & Dean, Odd Molly, Jacqueline Conoir and Mellinda Mae Harlingten. Also featuring top graduates from Kwantlen University College and Helen Lefeaux School of Fashion Design.
This year’s beneficiary is the Canadian Make Poverty History as part of Bono and Bob Geldof's international campaign to eradicate global poverty, and The WordLoveWorldLove Project that connects Canadian children with children in developing countries who have been impacted by crisis.
